Join the University of Notre Dame Australia’s Centre for the History of Philosophy and School of Philosophy and Theology for a two-day symposium celebrating the richness and diversity of the philosophical tradition across more than two millennia.
Held across two campuses, the Symposium brings together academics and students of the University of Notre Dame Australia for a day in Fremantle and a day in Sydney.
Fremantle Symposium — Thursday 12 November 2026, 9:00am–4:00pm
ND36/103, 2–8 Mouat Street, Fremantle WA 6160
Presenters: Dr Catherine Wesselinoff, Dr Heath Williams, Dr Rajat Denzil Acharya and Dr Richard Hamilton.
Sydney Symposium — Thursday 19 November 2026, 9:00am–4:00pm
NDS23/102, 46–52 Mountain Street, Ultimo NSW 2007
Presenters: Dr Angus Brook, Dr Samuel Kaldas, Mr Russell Gore and Dr Rajat Denzil Acharya.
Each day features four themed sessions dedicated to Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary Philosophy. Each 90-minute session includes a lecture by a member of Notre Dame’s philosophy staff, a response from a student, and an extended discussion — a collaborative forum in which experienced scholars and emerging philosophers engage in dialogue.
Whether you are an undergraduate discovering the history of philosophy for the first time, a postgraduate researcher, or an academic with an interest in the philosophical tradition, the Symposium offers an opportunity to engage with outstanding scholarship, participate in thoughtful discussion, and become part of a vibrant intellectual community.
Attendance is free, but registration is essential.
