Pope Leo XIV has decreed 2026 a SPECIAL JUBILEE YEAR OF SAINT FRANCIS.
This is an ideal time to come to know Saint Francis of Assisi more intimately through a 12 day retreat experience on his Italian home soil. The invitation is to enter deeply into the sanctity of Advent as we become besotted with the extravagant love of God and God’s love for all of creation. As you make a pilgrimage to the holy places and sacred spaces that touched Francis’ heart you will be awakened to God’s closeness.
The Franciscan friars who lead this pilgrims’ retreat will ensure an authentically Franciscan retreat experience with God, and with Francis and Clare of Assisi who lived the Gospels.

GRECCIO: – Hotel della Fonte | Tue 08 – Fri 11 December 2026
3 nights in the ‘Franciscan Bethlehem’ where Francis found peace.
Greccio offers a mountain retreat where Francis experienced solitude, celebrated with community and found peace. Here in times of solitude and in fraternity have your faith awakened as we look to Celano’s ‘Life of St Francis’ and his description of what takes place that Christmas in the celebration at Greccio. Simplicity is given a place of honour, poverty is exalted and humility is commended. This special place highlights the humanity of Christ and the Incarnational approach to life which is so central to Franciscan spirituality.
ASSISI: – Casa Madonna della Pace | Fri 11 – Fri 18 December 2026
7 nights in Assisi as we walk in the spirit of Brother Francis and the Lady Clare alive.
The foci will be both spiritual and historical as we absorb the Franciscan family story. Engage in daily theological input sessions and find solitude in the sacred sites so precious to the Franciscan story, and fraternity in the community. All will deepen your spiritual practice, knowledge and understanding of Franciscan spirituality.
