Dear fellow educators,
We invite you to embark on a unique pilgrimage that weaves together faith, heritage, and the enduring story of Catholic education. This journey to Ireland – heartland of many of the founders and religious congregations who helped shape Catholic schooling in Australia – offers us a chance to walk in the footsteps of the Sisters of Mercy, Presentation Sisters, Brigidine Sisters, Christian Brothers, Benedictines, and Dominicans. Their courage, vision, and steadfast commitment to the Gospel continue to inspire our mission today, and this pilgrimage offers a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with those roots.
Together, we will explore the landscapes, sacred sites, and communities that nurtured these remarkable congregations. Through visits, reflection, and shared conversation, we hope to deepen our understanding of the stories that travelled across oceans and took shape in Australian classrooms. This is not simply a historical journey – it is a chance to renew our own vocation as Catholic educators and to celebrate the legacy we continue to carry forward.
Amidst the rich heritage and spiritual touchstones of our itinerary, we will also experience the breathtaking beauty that Ireland is so well known for. From rolling green hills and dramatic coastlines to lively villages filled with music, warmth, and charm, the country offers countless moments of wonder. Whether wandering through historic streets, taking in panoramic views, or enjoying the uniquely Irish blend of story and hospitality, our journey will be enriched not only by its sacred places but also by the landscapes and cultural treasures that make Ireland such an unforgettable destination.
Before we arrive in Ireland, we will enjoy a gentle beginning to our travels with a short stay in Amsterdam. These days will give us time to settle, connect as a group, and enjoy the beauty and cultural richness of one of Europe’s most welcoming cities. Then, with open hearts and a spirit of companionship, we will set out for Ireland, ready to learn, reflect, and be inspired.
We look forward to sharing this meaningful journey with you.
