2026 marks 100 years since the birth on 4 September 1926 of Ivan Illich, one of the 20th century’s most provocative critics of modern institutions, from schooling to industrial healthcare.
For our next Australian Cardijn Institute webinar on Tuesday 15 September, we are pleased to welcome Dr Rose Calabretta, who met Illich as a student participating in his Graduate Course at Fordham University, New York, in 1970.
She will reflect with us on his thought and teaching based on her personal and professional experience as a sociologist and theologian.
Discover how Illich’s radical ideas on conviviality and institutional critique remain urgently relevant to today’s social and educational challenges.
