Join hundreds of young people and families on Saturday, 24 October 2026 for LIFTED Live in the Forecourt. Coinciding with Parramatta Lanes , we invite everyone to hop across Prince Alfred Park to the illuminated St Patrick’s Cathedral Forecourt for an exciting night of Catholic worship and prayer, friendship and community, showcasing the talent and passion of the Catholic Church in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains. This event is perfect for youth groups, students, leaders, and families who want to celebrate faith in the lives of young people — generally those over 16, though everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us! Celebrating its 11th year, LIFTED Live coincides with the Feast of St Pope John Paul II (22 October), commemorating the founding of the Diocese of Parramatta. World Youth Day was initiated by St John Paul II in 1985, and he visited the newly created Diocese shortly after, in 1986. In 2015, a statue of St John Paul II was unveiled at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta, as a lasting tribute to the founder of our Diocese. Reflecting his enduring message to young people, St John Paul II said ahead of the 12th World Youth Day in 1997: “Dear young people, like the first disciples, follow Jesus! Do not be afraid to draw near to him, to cross the threshold of his dwelling, to speak with him face to face, as you talk with a friend. Do not be afraid of the ‘new life’ he is offering. He himself makes it possible for you to receive that life and practise it, with the help of his grace and the gift of his Spirit.”
