Subscribing teachers are invited to join us for a practical, evidence-informed session on inclusion in Religious Education, supporting all students to engage meaningfully in their faith formation. The event is hosted by the Australian Catholics Education Hub.
This session brings together voices from lived experience and research. Fr Justin Glyn SJ will share accessible Ignatian contemplations developed with Sr Mary O’Shannessy FCJ, designed to support students who are vision-impaired or who pray in non-visual ways, with complementary artwork for visual learners. Dr Matthew White will offer a research perspective on inclusive education, helping ground the conversation in effective, whole-school practice.
You’ll gain:
Fr Justin Glyn SJ is a blind Jesuit priest, lawyer and canon law lecturer at Catholic Theological College, University of Divinity, and General Counsel to the Australian Jesuits. He holds a PhD in international and refugee law and writes on law, theology and social justice, with a focus on people who are often marginalised.
Sr Mary O’Shannessy FCJ is a member of the Faithful Companions of Jesus and an experienced educator, pastoral care coordinator and spiritual director. She holds a Bachelor of Philosophy of Education (vision impairment) and has spent many years supporting children and adults with disabilities, particularly those with sight loss. Now retired, she volunteers with Vision Australia.
Dr Matthew White is a Senior Lecturer in Inclusive Education at Australian Catholic University and National Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Education. His work focuses on inclusive education, school wellbeing and supporting diverse learners, grounded in research and practical application.
