Our next presentation, The Aramaic Lord’s Prayer – what our translations hide will begin in the Mary Elliott Room by Brother Barry Donaghue (Christian Brother).
The prayer which Jesus himself taught his disciples is at the start of our spirituality. The common translation we use is limited because it is but one of many possibilities. In Aramaic, each word can evoke an entire family of images and nuances so, by entering into the Aramaic language we can look through the lens which Jesus himself used to perceive reality.
How might our reality look when we use the same lens? Jesus said he came to restore sight to the blind; have I lost sight of his Way? On this morning let us consider less of what we see and more of how we see.
