SUMMARY:Breath of Joy – Pray with Mary this October 2026
DESCRIPTION:This October\, the Marian month\, we invite you into a simple and beautiful way of praying with Mary – one word\, one breath\, one day at a time. \nLast October\, we prayed the Hail Mary\, one word each day. Many were surprised by how powerful this simple breathing prayer became\, gently deepening their relationship with Mary as the month unfolded. \nThis year\, Breath of Joy invites us to pray with Mary’s Magnificat. Accompanied by beautiful images of Mary\, each daily prayer lingers with just one word\, allowing it to settle into your breath\, your heart and your everyday life. \nThe daily videos are only two and a half minutes long and will guide you in this ancient Ignatian way of praying with the breath. A small daily prayer to breathe new life into your day. \nThe prayers are offered free of charge. When registering\, you are invited to make an optional contribution towards the ongoing work of our ministry. Your generosity helps us continue sharing the transformative experiences of Ignatian spirituality. \nWhen: 1–31 October 2026 – a short daily prayer emailed to you each day\nWhere: Online (emailed daily to your inbox)\nCost: Free – an optional contribution is invited at registration\nRegister: book.venue.life – Breath of Joy\, October 2026 \nSource: Jesuit and Ignatian Spirituality Australia

SUMMARY:The Full Spiritual Exercises in Silence Sevenhill
DESCRIPTION:The Spiritual Exercises is the very best thing that in this life\, I can think\, perceive\, or understand for helping a person benefit her or himself as well as bringing fruit\, benefit\, and advantage to many others; for even if you felt no need for the former\, you will see immeasurably and incomparably you will be helped with regard to the latter. \nSt Ignatius Loyola 1491 – 1556. Letter to Rev. M. Miona\, 16 November 1536. \n  \nDiscover God’s unique love for us – Becoming free – To love and serve in all things\nImmerse yourself in the Full Spiritual Exercises at JISA Sevenhill. In this silent retreat\, you will meet once every day with your Spiritual Director and engage in the methods and models of prayer provided by St Ignatius in his text\, The Spiritual Exercises. \nMaking the Spiritual Exercises can be a truly wonderful and life-changing experience. We hope that all retreatants can experience this at some point in their lives. \nWe offer the Spiritual Exercises to religious and lay people from all walks of life\, who are already familiar with Ignatian spirituality and Ignatian spiritual direction.\nIt is highly advisable that you have had ongoing spiritual direction with someone who can help you prepare for the Exercises and to live them out after the retreat. It is also helpful to have made a shorter silent directed retreat of about 6-8 days\, so you are familiar with the dynamics of silence and prayer involved in the Spiritual Exercises. \nBy application \nMonday 15 June – Saturday 18 July 2026\nFriday 2 October – Wednesday 4 November 2026 \nThis retreat runs over 33-Days/34-Nights \nFor an application\, please contact Sandra on 1300 EXAMEN (1300-392-636)\, info@jisa.org.au\,\nor Megan on +61 8 8843 5935\, sevenhill@jisa.org.au

SUMMARY:Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit (11-25 October): Glenbrook
DESCRIPTION:Out of love for the Eucharist\, St Carlo Acutis created a website that compiled the details of every recorded Eucharistic miracle. These miracles are moments of extraordinary grace\, where Christ’s real presence in the Sacred Host is manifested in some physical way. The Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition has since been made available for display in parishes throughout the world where people are able to spend time learning about these extraordinary events as a community of faith. Throughout this year\, the Diocese of Parramatta is displaying the Exhibition at various parishes for people to come and see. SUMMARY:The Aussie Camino Pilgrimage – VIC/SA
DESCRIPTION:Following in the Footsteps of Mary MacKillop\nWalking a Camino is a centuries-old tradition\, offering pilgrims a spiritual journey inspired by lives of fulfilment and service. The Aussie Camino follows in the footsteps of Mary MacKillop\, Australia’s first saint\, who dedicated her life to faith\, education\, and kindness. \nStarting in Portland\, where Mary MacKillop gained her early teaching experience\, the pilgrimage ends in Penola. Penola is where she co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph with Father Julian Tenison Woods. Reflecting on their humble beginnings\, Mary wrote in 1891: \n“Little did either of us then dream of what was to spring from so small a beginning.” \nPilgrims can visit significant sites such as the stable park\, the schoolhouse\, and St Joseph’s Church\, taking time for reflection and prayer. \nThe Path of the Pilgrimage\nFor the first few days\, the route follows the Great South West Walk (GSWW)\, a scenic 250-kilometre track established in 1981. It winds through stunning national parks\, including Lower Glenelg\, Cobboboonee\, Discovery Bay Coastal\, Mount Richmond\, and Cape Nelson State Park. \nAs the journey progresses\, the path continues along farm tracks\, goat trails\, minor roads\, and even abandoned railway lines\, offering a peaceful and reflective experience. \nThe Aussie Camino is a calm and rewarding pilgrimage for those seeking spiritual growth\, personal reflection\, and an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of an extraordinary woman. \n“Oh\, how I wish we would only remember that we are but travellers here.”– Mary MacKillop 17 November 1866 \nThinois listing has a number of departure dates  – Check the website https://getawaytrekking.com.au/tour/australia/the-aussie-camino-pilgrimage-vic-sa/

SUMMARY:Called to Know More – How is the Church Organised?
DESCRIPTION:Join the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle for this month’s Called to Know More gathering\, with Fr Matthew Muller — Vicar General and Canon Lawyer. \nHow does the Catholic Church organise itself to carry out its mission in the world? What role does the Code of Canon Law play in the life of the Church\, and why does it matter to every Catholic? \nIn this engaging presentation\, Fr Matthew Muller will introduce the Code of Canon Law (Codex Iuris Canonici) as the framework that supports the Church’s life\, governance and mission. Far more than a collection of rules\, canon law seeks to foster communion\, protect the dignity and rights of the faithful\, and ensure that the Church’s ministries are exercised with justice\, order and pastoral care. \nDrawing on practical examples from diocesan and parish life\, Fr Matthew will explore how the Church is organised at the universal\, diocesan and parish levels\, the responsibilities of bishops\, priests and lay faithful\, and how decision-making and leadership are exercised in service of the Gospel. \nWhether you have ever wondered how the Church functions behind the scenes or simply want a deeper understanding of its life and mission\, this session offers an accessible introduction to the structures that support the Church’s pastoral work and witness in today’s world. \nTuesday 20 October 2026\, 12:00pm–1:00pm\nDiocesan Resource Centre\, Cnr Parry & Tudor Street (841 Hunter Street)\, Newcastle West NSW 2302\nLight refreshments provided. \nRSVP: Eventbrite – Called to Know More: How is the Church Organised? \nSource: Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle
