In their words: Family perspectives on the power of Early Childhood Hubs

Join us for our upcoming webinar, In their words: Family perspectives on the power of Early Childhood Hubs. This session will launch research to better understand the experiences of children, families and practitioners engaging with Early Childhood Hubs (ECHs), exploring what makes them so transformative and critical for children and families.

About the research

SVA has partnered with The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI) to better understand and raise the visibility of the lived experiences of families, practitioners, and service leaders working within ECHs.

Early Childhood Hubs are centres where children and their families can go to access key services and connect with other families. They provide a range of child and family services including early learning programs, maternal and child health and family support programs, as well as tiered services for families who need them.

Together with TACSI, we travelled across Australia visiting five ECHs where we interviewed 17 families and 20 staff to learn about the collective impact of ECHs and hear powerful stories of lived experience. This research complements years of research into what makes ECHs effective, centring the voices and stories that are too often missing from policy and research discussions.

By elevating the perspectives of families and practitioners, the findings provide a powerful policy and advocacy tool – helping governments, philanthropy, and service leaders understand why hubs are essential to supporting children, families and communities to thrive.

We’d like to thank Minderoo Foundation for their generous support to enable this work.

What you will learn:

During this webinar, you will:

  • Hear directly from families and practitioners about what hubs mean for their lives and communities
  • Gain insights from the research which shares the perspectives of families, and hub providers
  • Understand the essential services, supports, and design features that families say make hubs most valuable and effective
  • Understand why expanding high-quality ECHs in communities facing hardship is vital for ensuring healthy and thriving children, families and communities

Who should attend:

This event is designed for:

  • Not-for-profits & service leaders: Organisations working in or considering integrated early years models including hubs
  • Families and practitioners: Those engaged in hubs, to hear stories and experiences of others and contribute their perspectives
  • Philanthropy: Funders and foundations committed to improving outcomes for children
  • Government: Public servants and advisers shaping child and family policy

This webinar offers a unique opportunity to connect the evidence base with lived experience, bringing early Childhood Hubs to life how and how they make such a difference.
